"If you believe it's time to put principles above parties, character above campaign promises, and Common Sense above all -- then I ask you to read this book...."

In any era, great Americans inspire us to reach our full potential. They know with conviction what they believe within themselves. They understand that all actions have consequences. And they find commonsense solutions to the nation's problems.

One such American, Thomas Paine, was an ordinary man who changed the course of history by penning Common Sense, the concise 1776 masterpiece in which, through extraordinarily straightforward and indisputable arguments, he encouraged his fellow citizens to take control of America's future -- and, ultimately, her freedom.

Nearly two and a half centuries later, those very freedoms once again hang in the balance. And now, Glenn Beck revisits Paine's powerful treatise with one purpose: to galvanize Americans to see past government's easy solutions, two-part monopoly, and illogical methods and take back our great country........

The latest media nugget from author, TV, radio and stage star Glenn Beck is easy to recommend, but with a caveat or two. First of all, if you listen to his radio program or watch his Fox News show, you've probably already got an idea of his shtick. He's an extremely likeable, self-deprecating goofball who has no pretentions to ivory-tower intellectualism. Behind his overtly entertaining persona, however, is a guy who might be one of the biggest doom-and-gloomers when it comes to his vision of th......

Glenn Beck has written an enlightening tome asking for the people to hold our elected officials responsible for their actions. Mr. Beck is not a raving lunatic - although he plays one on the radio - but a funny, sarcastic voice crying out to the masses.

Read this book, Mr. Beck tells us on his radio show, and then pass it onto others.

Beck seems sincere and well-intentioned. He is neither a party hack nor _only_ out for a buck. The wildly out-of-proportion success of this book testifies to the disenfranchisement felt by many Americans that Beck refers to so often. As an author, or co-author, he may be passionate, but his effort is weak. I don't see the connection between his part of the volume and Paines'.

This is a good book at a great time. Both our parties have failed us on almost all areas it was put in place to protect us from and its time we reclaim what goverment should be. I hope this books and others makes a impact on the 2010 election's and we hold these goverment leaders accountable and fire most of them in 2010.

If you like filling your head with misguided... well BS just for sake creating an opinion into something even remotely factual then by all means read this. Would have popped less brain cells reading Anne Culturgiest.

I haven't read the book. I've heard Beck talking about it. He certainly has the right to make money from his endeavors. However, if he just wanted to sound the alarm, he should've published it as a .PDF so everyone could read it instantly. Of course, free things are often thought to have no value, but it's a way to get out the word immediately. It isn't too late. Publish the whole thing for free, then offer people a chance to buy it.

Amazing... Not a political hackjob. It is an open look at the corruption of the entire governmental process. I have passed it on to 10 friends that are apathetic and clueless. Hopefully it will open their eyes as it opened mine.

I just want to thank all the intellectually lazy people who posted their 1-star reviews not having read the book, talking about the book as if it's a "right-wing hack job" and such, it provided quite a bit of entertainment for me. I HAVE read the book and I'll tell you right now that it is 100% bash both sides, and it is 100% common sense. Saying that one disagree with what is in this book is impossible to defend, unless he/she supports the progressive agenda that started with Woodrow Wilson (......

First off, if you are one of these Glen Beck 9-12 whackos, you won't be reading the rest of this review anyway so, off with you.

For anyone that's actually considering buying this item, realize that the man who wrote it is paid to lie and twist the truth on TV. He's not a journalist and not some sort of professor to be followed. He's a d-bag with a microphone and this comes through in his "book". If you really want to hear what he has to say just Google glen beck. Its free and you'll ......
